The first official activity of the two-year “Balkan Splash” project, supported by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Programme, was successfully held on 14–15 February 2026 in Istanbul. The project, launched in December 2025 following a successful grant application, is implemented by an international consortium that includes the Turkish Water Polo Federation.

As part of the project’s objective to strengthen the capacities of water polo clubs and promote the development of the sport in the Republic of Albania 🇦🇱 and the Republic of Kosovo 🇽🇰, a Kick-Off Meeting and Training of Trainers activity was organized. The event brought together coaches and sports managers from both countries and was hosted at the ENKA Sports Club facilities in Istanbul 🇹🇷.

Within the framework of the “Balkan Splash” project, a comprehensive series of training activities will be developed based on a water polo curriculum prepared by experts from the Turkish Water Polo Federation. These trainings will be implemented in the partner countries and supported with digital visual materials, contributing to the sustainable growth of water polo in the region.
